I can't install my Oracle RDBMS 8.1.7 on my Windows 2000 Advance Server
(Pentium 4).
When I click on the Install/De-install options, the Oracle Universal
Installer window won't appear, and I just can't proceed. Is there a bug for
this version of Oracle (8.1.7) ? If there is, how do I go about it, how can
I install Oracle on my machine?
Any inputs will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
It would certainly help if you read my reply to your previous thread on the
same subject:
Please refer to MetaLink

ase_id=NOT&p_id=131299.1. Easiest workaround is to:
- Copy your CD-ROMs to the harddisk.
- Rename each copy of the symcjit.dll to symcjit.old.
- Run the installation from the harddisk (Disk1\install\win32\setup.exe).
HTH.

Yes, indeed. BobGie didn't seem to like your answer before, and so he/she/it
just had to ask again. He/she/it reminds me of a child who, not getting
the answer he wants from Mom, runs off to ask Dad the very same thing.
BobGie, Finn is on solid ground with his advice. This is a well-known problem
discussed many a time in this newsgroup.
